Career Opportunity
The Production Scheduler will support the operation of our fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility. You will collaborate with customer service, production, and shipping to manage the production schedule in a manner that allows for an orderly flow of production to customers.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
- Production Scheduling – utilizing forward scheduling – planning from the date resources become available to determine shipping date or due date, backward scheduling – planning from the due date or required-by date to determine start date and/or changes in capacity required, and batch scheduling, issues daily schedule by downloading jobs into schedule and making necessary adjustments, coordinates outside services, communicates with customer service regarding customer needs, communicates with manufacturing, prioritizes hold report and distributes to applicable departments, participates in customer visits, prepares weekly backlog report, prepares monthly work-in-process report, provides feedback for the daily shipment report, attends daily production meetings, and communicates order status to account representatives.
- Assigns ship dates – reviews machine backlogs, determines ship date, enters ship date in Amtech System, prints copy of order acknowledgement.
- Works proactively to promote teamwork at all levels of the company.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.
- Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties.
- This position will help keep department in pecs within all 5S and SQF guidelines, and immediately report any food safety concerns to management.
- Willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
- Work with the leadership team to meet on-time performance goals, and achieve optimal machine utilization, while minimizing costs as much as possible
- Effectively employ the master schedule, ensuring orders are scheduled and sequenced to meet on-time delivery and the order fulfillment objectives of the business unit
- Perform necessary rework based on unexpected outages/downtime
- Evaluate current processes and recommend improved processes
- Schedule production for assigned work centers and meet customer due dates while maximizing efficiency.
What You Need To Succeed
- High School Diploma or GED is required; degree is a plus
- 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; packaging, printing, paper industry is preferred
- Innovative Thinker: possess the ability to evaluate large amounts of information
- Able to work in a time bound environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and balance conflicting objectives Able to work as needed on weekend/off

- Technical / software skills; MS Office, ability to learn new software
