Responsibilities
Be Management's contact and support person regarding HS issues:
- Ensure application and compliance of Group Policies: Equal Opportunities, Quality, Environment and Health & Safety.
- Advise the Plant Management team on HS issues to facilitate coordination and uniformity with the rest of the Group.
- Ensure that Plant Management is aware of legal obligations with regard to Health & Safety and the Environment.
- Keep Plant Management up to date on such issues and direct the different administrative arrangements required to comply with legal obligations relating to HS at the plant.
- Be the contact person on matters regarding HS for customers and stakeholders (basically the public administration) - relevant procedures, participation in projects, etc., coordinating their requirements at the plant and, when necessary, relaying them to Management at Country or Group level.
Encourage implementation of Company requirements and guidelines on HS issues:
- Contribute to compliance with the Company's Code of Conduct and act as a link on these issues with Country Management and Group Management.
- Implement Group/Area guidelines and procedures related to HS and, when necessary, help to define them.
- Define plant management procedures or documents that are considered necessary for HS and direct their implementation.
- Carry out assessments of legal compliance and define necessary actions plans as well as monitoring compliance and reporting to the Plant Compliance Committee.
- Take the lead in defining annual HS objectives at the plant and, once approval has been given, define action plans and resources required. Systematically track compliance of these objectives and propose lines of action if deviations or shortcomings are detected.
- In collaboration with the Plant's management team, promote and carry out the Management's review of the management system.
Ensure Compliance And Encourage Improvements In The Management System
- Encourage department personnel to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to carry out their functions effectively and efficiently.
- Make sure that management system documentation relating to HS is kept up to date, and is checked by the different people responsible in order to guarantee coherence with policies and uniformity between regions.
- Form part of the different plant Management Committees (H&S Committee, SMC, Committee, Management Committee, etc.); ensure that the issues on the agenda are covered and track the actions related to HS management agreed in meetings.
- Ensure that audits are carried out at his/her plant in relation to the certification in place at the plant and that any corrective actions implemented represent a real improvement to systems.
- Promote Continuous Improvement: Promote corrective/preventive actions and opportunities for improvement in his/her field of influence.
- Monitor management system indicators and suggest new ones that can improve tracking.
- Ensure compliance at reporting level; reports which may be required by law or according to Group policy (accidents, monthly HS indicators, surveys by official bodies and customers, reports by own HS service, annual report on transport of hazardous goods, etc...)
- Promote and collaborate in implementing projects and advanced tools that favour the continuous improvement of established processes.
- Encourage the correct use of tools for the analysis and identification of root causes of problems to make sure that they do not occur again: investigations into accidents and incidents, risk analysis, etc.
Minimum Requirements
- High school degree.
- Understanding of OSHA regulatory requirements, including reporting, compliance, training, etc.
- 2+ years of experience in a Health and Safety role.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong focus on promoting and supporting a safe work environment.
- Good communications skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office use.
