The Opportunity
The Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent manages and is responsible for managing the installation, repair, and maintenance of all mechanical equipment in the mill. The Maintenance Superintendent reports directly to the mill Maintenance Manager.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
- Manages all maintenance systems which include equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and maintenance records
- Develops action plans to address maintenance inefficiencies and repeat equipment failures.
- Sets department objectives for improving safety, employee training, quality, cost, and productivity as well as development of the maintenance budget
- Develops salaried department employees through effective communication, training, and supervisory skills
- Interfaces with all operating departments
- Investigates problems to ensure efficient facility operation and determines root cause to prevent reoccurrence
- Coordinates efforts with maintenance and operating departments
- Ensures activities are in compliance with mill, company, state, and federal policies and guidelines as it relates to the safety of employees and the execution of work
- Monitors behaviors within organizational boundaries to maintain a culture embedded in professionalism, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, respect, and trust

What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred (or related field) with 7+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience within the paper industry is a plus, but not required
- Supervisory / management experience is required
Compensation Offered
- Pay (or pay range): $120,375 – $200,625 DOE (Junior, Intermediate, Senior levels)
- Bonus/Commission Eligible: Yearly Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) Bonus based off metrics

The salary range for this position is $120,375.00 - $200,625.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
