The Opportunity
This position will provide technical support to the facility including troubleshooting and day-to-day technical support of the operations group, capital project management, leadership of continuous improvement projects, waste reduction projects, training of operations group personnel, and support of safety, environmental and quality improvement projects.

- Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. - Work with peers on troubleshooting technical issues, collect and analyze log sheet data, collect and analyze samples of various process streams. Determine if process improvement projects need to be started based on situations.
- Plan, conduct, and report on machine trials aimed at optimizing operational performance. Document performance improvements and report savings on PAS.
- Reporting and monitoring of production data.
- PAS management: manage projects and pipeline of CI projects in the system and execution in the plant.
- Capital projects: manage capital projects ranging from $5k to as much as several million dollars in scope using competent and professional project management methods, as directed by mill manager.
- Continuous improvement: Lead and manage continuous improvement projects in a professional project management approach. Identify and quantify opportunities, collect and analyze data, propose, win support for, and implement solutions, monitor and evaluate results.
- Lead waste reduction project: monitor waste process and flow, ensure tally sheets are being recorded properly, validate and audit daily, weekly and monthly waste performance and data, lead plant waste team, provide training to problem-solving process waste, work with quality team to ensure proper waste and quality metrics to understand root causes, perform internal problem solving boards and root cause analysis of waste and maintain an action register to reduce waste at the plant.
- Work with quality and production teams on development of SOP’s and documentation and organization to evaluate new products
- Improve operations through crew training and development. Act as liaison between suppliers and crews
- Actively support operations in safety and quality improvement efforts.
- Provide management with information on quality and operating parameters to assist in process control, budgeting, and detection of trends.
- Support management team on rolling forecast and budget analysis and/or development of plant wide meeting presentations, senior leadership presentations.
- Review and support planning/scheduling activities when applicable to determine proper plant flow.
- Support when needed in weekend call duty for production department.

What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor's degree, process focused (Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Mechanical Engineering or similar process focused degree or Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science, or related field.
- Training and certification in Six Sigma or similar curriculum, and proven work experience.
- 2-5 years' experience in corrugated, paper making or similar operation, with some supervisory experience
- High energy, with the ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Computer proficiency required
